The Cyrillic prayer text along the edges is the Exapostilarion Hymn of the Orthros of the Holy Cross (Feast Day: September 14). The scripture says "Крест хранитель всея вселенныя, Крест красота Церкве, Крест царей держава, Крест верных утверждение, Крест Ангелов слава и демонов язва."
The translation is the following: "The Cross is the guardian of the Universe; the Cross is the beauty of the Church; the Cross is the might of kings; the Cross is the affirmation of the faithful; the Cross is the glory of angels and a plague to demons."
