The Russian inscription on the back side is the Prayer to the Virgin Mary (Russian equivalent of “Hail Mary” or "Ave Maria"): "Богородице Дево, радуйся, Благодатная Марие, [Господь с Тобою, Благословенна Ты в женах и благословен плод чрева Твоего,] яко Спаса родила еси душ наших.".
